My name is Rolf Würthle, and I am proud to lead our family business, Bioplant Naturverfahren GmbH, now in its second generation. Here, I would like to offer you a brief insight into the history of our company and the development of BIPLANTOL®.

It all began in our little drugstore...

In 1967, my parents, Sigrid and Konrad Würthle, assumed ownership of the Gebhard Drugstore at Gebhardsplatz in Konstanz on Lake Constance. After qualifying as a pharmaceutical sales assistant and chemist-druggist, my father broadened his expertise from 1975 onward to focus on herbal medicine, naturopathy (drawing on traditions such as Maria Treben, the Breuß cure, Hildegard of Bingen), and the biochemistry method developed by Dr. Schüßler.

Forest dieback and homeopathy

In the early 1980s, as widespread forest dieback featured prominently in the news, my father sought a remedy to heal and revive the afflicted trees. Although naturopathic therapies had previosly been used only in humans, he observed that “What benefits humans can not be harmful for plants.”

He rejected the idea of high-dose fertilisation- after all, when we are unwell, we have no appetite for schnitzel, fries and salad.

The homeopathic solution achieved

Inital trials were conducted on three- to four-year-old spruce trees, during which various dosages were assessed - yielding clear, observable benefits in both needle growth and its duration. The efficacy of individual potency levels was corroborated through extensive trials using wheat and cress.

After considerable experimentation in the in-house lab, the complex remedy Plantiosan was created – a formulation grounded in purely biological, biochemical, and homeopathic principles. Inspired by the ethos of natural medicine, we later rebranded our plant homeopathic remedy to BIPLANTOL® (Biological Plant Solution).

Its base comprises the biochemic functional agents of Dr. Schüßler, combined with plant extracts, minerals, and trace elements in a homeopathically dynamised forms, with potency levels ranging from D6 to D100.

The first field trials commenced or started

With the support of the State Forestry Office in Konstanz, Germany an initial large-scale trial was launched involving Douglas firs, sequoias, and pines. The trees were severely damaged and weakened, showing symptoms of partly unknown origin, many of which indicated imminent dieback. In 1983, the trees were treated over the course of a year with repeated applications of our diluted homeopathic compund, BIPLANTOL®, administerd via water.

By the end of the trial, clear signs of recovery were observed: previously thinning crowns became denser, and drooping branches regained their upright forms.

The successful rehabilitation of a diseased sequoia tree in the Konstanz State Forest using BIPLANTOL® eventually attracted public attention.

Further long-term studies followed, in collaboration with public institutions and private users. In a designated woodland area in Bavaria, the regenerative efficacy of BIPLANTOL® was confirmed -most notably in 60-year-old fir and spruce trees- supported by infrared imaging data.

Soon, international recognition followed for my father´s invention. In 1991, at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva, BIPLANTOL® was awarded the Silver Medal. Just two years later, in 1993, BIPLANTOL® was officially listed as a plant-strengthening agent by the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, (BVL), and has since been commercially available.

The gentle care for home and garden

Prompted by suggestions from private users and ongoing research, my father continuously refined and improved the original BIPLANTOL® formula over the years. As a result, we were soon able to apply homeopathic treatments not only to trees, but also to water, slurry, compost, roses, housplants and seedlings. Numerous trials in ornamental horticulture-carried out in collaboration with large nurseries- as well as tests on vegetables in private gardens, demonstrated significant growth benefits.

Over time, this led to the development of our globally unique BIPLANTOL® product line: a homeopathic series for the regeneration, strengthening, and long-term health of plants. In the early days, all production was done manually in a repurposed storage room of the family-owned pharmacy. Following the expansion of our headquarters in 2001 to the industrial zone of Konstanz, we gradually introduced modernisations, including mechanised support for filling, labelling and packaging.

To this day, BIPLANTOL® continues to be developed, produced, bottled, packaged, and shipped from our headquarters in Konstanz on Lake Constance.

Homeopathy arrives in the 21st Century

In the beginning, we were met with scepticism. Yet, after more than 40 years of persistence and the courage to champion plant homeopathy, the time finally seems right. Our steadily growing national and international user base clearly reflects the increasing acceptance and popularity of homeopathy for plants.

Today, we practise a modern form of plant homeopathy. On one hand, we draw on the practical principles of classical homeopathy as developed by Samuel Hahnemann - the founding father of the discipline. On the other, we incorporate the biodynamic laws developed by Rudolf Steiner. In addotion, we are well-versed in the potentisation methods established by Kolisko and apply the biochemical functional remedies of Dr. Schüßler. Alongside these established techniques, we also intergrate modern biochemical substances derived from human medicine and take into account lunar calender constellations in the preperations process.

Founded in 1984, Bioplant Naturverfahren GmbH has now grown to a team of eight dedicated staff members. Today, we proudly look back on over 40 years of experience with BIPLANTOL^®.

In recent years, the results of research into homeopathis remedies for plants have been increasingly published. In 2002, in collaboration with BLV Verlag, we released our book and guide: Homeopathy for Garden and Houseplants.

Television broadcasters and magazines have also taken a growing interest, frequently reporting on our alternative cultivation methods using homeopathy. Having grown up behind the counter of my parents´ pharmacy and inspired by my father´s passion for plant-based natural medicine, I have always been deeply involved in the development process and field trials. What began as a calling has become my life´s work - and I remain continally inspired by the richness and diversity of natural healing. As a member of the International Biocontrol Manufacturers Association (IBMA Global and IBMA DA) and the BioLago life science Network Lake Constance, we stay well-informed about developments in our industry. Collaborations with universities and horticultural research institutions further enhance our capabilities.

Our well-equipped laboratory, cultivation rooms, and experimental plots enable us to conduct in-house research and provide ascientific framework for stundens and interns.

Environment Protection and Resource Conservation

Environmental stewardship and resource conservation are fundamental principles of our company. We actively contribute to climate protection through various initiatives:

Climate Neurtral Shipping: We offer climate-neutral shipping througn DHL GoGreen, which allows us to offset the CO2 emissions generated during transportation be supporting certified climate protection projects. this service is available for both domestic and international shipments.
Renewable Energy: Our facility is equipped with a modern wood pellet heating system and a photovoltaic (solar) system that gernerates eco-friendly electricity for our own use and feeds surplus energy back into the grid. This contributes to reducing our carbon footprint and supports the transition to renewable energy sources.
Sustainable Packaging: We minimize unnecessary packaging and waste by prioritizing the reuse of materials and using recyclable packaging wherever possible. This approach aligns with our commitment to sustainability and resource efficiently.
